About a week ago, I received a special surprise in the mail, my second free sample box from Influenster—the J’Adore Dessange VoxBox. I received products for blonde hair, which was perfect since I have naturally dirty blonde roots growing in with lighter blonde shades at the ends.
What’s Influenster?
For those of you who haven’t heard of Influenster, it is a way to use your social media impact to try new products and brands. When you join, you connect your social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to increase your impact score; the higher the score, the better. You can answer snaps (a.k.a. short survey questions) and write product reviews to increase your chances of being picked, as well. Once they pick you for a campaign, you will receive a VoxBox in the mail that includes free products to sample and review. I signed up in September 2014 and have received two boxes so far.
So, what came in the box?
The Dessange Voxbox has two versions, the Oleo Miracle Collection and California Blonde Collection. I received the California Blonde Collection which included a full-size product of each of the following:
- Illuminating Shampoo
- Illuminating Conditioner
- Brass Color Correcting Creme
There was also a fourth item listed on the website (the California Blonde Illuminating Elixir), but it seems it was not actually included in the boxes.
The Shampoo and Conditioner
I first sampled the shampoo and conditioner duo. In my opinion, they seemed pretty standard as far as hair products go. I did not see much of a difference in the blonde color of my hair nor was my hair more or less nourished by these, either. I would not necessarily recommend them, but I wouldn’t mind using them on occasion.
The Color Correcting Creme
The next product was the Color Correcting Creme. This came out of the tube as a deep indigo color, similar to other purple shampoos I have used. The instructions said to leave it in the hair for a few minutes, then rinse out. I did see a noticeable change using this product. My golden blonde hair had toned to being closer to an ash blonde—exactly what I was expecting from this product. This product was more of a blue hue and more pigmented than the current purple toner I use. I think the blue tone helped target the brassiness in my hair. If you are looking for an effective purple toner for yellow or golden brassiness, this could be perfect for you.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, I probably would not repurchase the shampoo and conditioner because they did not wow me and seemed average in quality. I am going to continue to use the Color Correcting Creme, and I will definitely consider repurchasing it once I run out! I think it is a great product for natural blondes or for dyed blondes or blonde highlights.
