This April, I got my monthly Boxycharm beauty box in the mail. Boxycharm is a monthly subscription beauty box that sends you four full-sized and a deluxe sample each month for $21 including shipping. The items usually are makeup related, but they also often send skincare and hair care products as well as perfumes and nail polish.
Here’s a picture of the April box just after I opened it:
The box also comes with a description card that I had already taken out that describes all the item uses and values. There is usually also a card that provides a discount to one of the product stores.
Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette
This was one of the spoilers revealed before the box came. A few months ago, Boxycharm included the Coastal Scents Revealed Palette, and I really enjoyed that palette, so I was really excited to get this. The listed price is $39.95, but Coastal Scents usually sells this palette for $19.95 on their website.
I find these eyeshadows richly pigmented—not so much as mineral eyeshadows but more than your average drugstore eyeshadow. I apply them over Pixie Epoxy by patting them on with a brush, and they last all day with no fallout. I’ve never used them without a primer, but with a primer they are amazing.
Would I buy this again? YES.
ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in Fairy Floss
The next product was ModelCo Lip Gloss worth $16.00. It came in Fairy Floss, a sheer light pink color. Some boxes got a two-sided lip liner or a color eyeliner instead. I’m not a big fan of lip glosses because my hair always ends up sticking to my lips after I apply it. This one was no different; it was pretty sticky in my opinion. Regardless, I found this pretty wearable. It almost has no color and basically just gives your lips and dewy, glossy look. I’ll use this until it runs out.
Would I buy this again? NO
Coolway Smoothing Lotion
This Coolway Smoothing Lotion (value $25.00) helps straighten and defrizz hair. I already have a few products like this, so I wasn’t too excited for this but would try it anyways. I think it worked pretty well compared to what I already had, but it didn’t blow me away. I might use it when I run out of my other hair products.
Would I buy this again? NO
Harvey Prince Mini Roller Fragrance in “Hello”
The fourth item I received was a mini roller bottle of Harvey Prince‘s perfume “Hello,” retail value $21.00. I’ve actually received this fragrance before in Boxycharm, but my first sample leaked so I was excited to receive this in different packaging. I often get headaches from perfumes, but “Hello” is light and citrusy and doesn’t bother me at all. It lasts a good five to six hours on me. The notes are the following:
“Notes: Meyer Lemon, White Grapefruit, Satsuma Mandarin, Summer Forsythia, Pink Plumeria, Wild Verbena, Tahitian Vanilla, Sensual Musk.”
I had actually been considering repurchasing the perfume after I ran out, so this was perfect timing. Some boxes received Harvey Prince’s “Signature” perfume instead, but I think because I had canceled my subscription and resubscribed, I received the same one that past subscribers had already received.
Would I buy this again? YES
OFRA Illuminating Blush Stripes
This was the second product revealed in spoilers. You could have received this or pink OFRA mineral powder, both with a retail value of $35.00. I hoped for the blush stripes, so I am pretty excited to get this!
Compared to the previous OFRA blush I received from Boxycharm (which I used every day before receiving this), these are a bit less pigmented which makes them more buildable and probably easier to use. I love the top color, it is very natural looking and subtle, unlike anything else I own. The white stripe is a great highlighter, but very pigmented—use with a light hand! The pink is a bit peachy and easy to build up without going overboard. Lastly, the gold stripe might be used as a bronzer. It is very sparkly, a bit too much so.
Overall, I find these very wearable and will be using this as an everyday staple!
Would I buy this again? YES
Overall
Out of my five items, I will use all of them and three of them I would most likely repurchase. I think the April Boxycharm was a big hit for me, especially after a few boxes that I wasn’t that excited about. I still find Boxycharm is the best deal for what you get out of other beauty boxes (i.e. Ipsy, Birchbox). This month’s value was a whopping $147 dollars, $127 with the Coastal Scents discount.
