Bold lips never go out of style. No girl wants to look at herself at the end of the day, though, and realize her lipstick has been wiped across her face all day. That’s why when you’re going cheap, it’s important to choose the best affordable lip products that leave your lips healthy and your ego intact. Here are five of my favorite drugstore picks for affordable lip products, including lip stains, lip balms, and liquid lip products.
If you are looking for more affordable makeup products, check out my posts sharing my top picks for affordable face makeup and affordable eye makeup, too.
Lipstick: Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Color
Price: $2
For traditional lipsticks, Wet N Wild has a huge collection of MegaLast Lip Color lipsticks that go for just about $2 a piece. I love these because I can try a bunch of different colors without a huge commitment. I find they feel a bit more secure and smudge proof than many more expensive drugstore lipsticks. They do transfer a bit but blotting helps keep them on through the day.
Liquid Lipsticks: Rimmel London Provocalips & Maybelline Super Stay 24 Lip Color
Price: $7, $11
Tip: Prepare your lips by exfoliating them and moisturizing them before applying liquid lipstick, but make sure you don’t have any remaining chapstick or moisturizer on when you apply.
Tinted Lip Balm: Nivea Care & Color
Price: $4-5
For just a bit of color but a lot of moisturizing power, Nivea’s Care & Color line is just that. They come in 4 different tints ranging from berry to coral but are just as moisturizing as other Nivea lip balms (which are my favorites). I have the berry tinted one. While it isn’t opaque, it does provide a lot of color that fades nicely. I can easily reapply throughout the day.
Lip Stain: Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
Price: $6-9
Lip stains are unique because they leave a subtle stain on your lips even after the actual lipstick wears away. There are a lot of drugstore lip products that claim to be stains, but the only one that actually works for me is Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. They look like giant crayons and apply very creamy and pigmented at first. They wear off evenly after a few hours and leave a nice subtle stain for the rest of the day. Revlon also makes Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms that look similar but don’t work nearly as well as these.
